What is a Mandala?

A mandala is a geometric design that often looks like a circle filled with repeating shapes, patterns, and symbols. The word mandala comes from Sanskrit and means “circle.” Mandalas are found in many cultures and are often used in spiritual, religious, or artistic practices.

In many traditions—especially in Hinduism and Buddhism—mandalas represent the universe or the journey toward inner peace and self-discovery. They are used as tools for meditation and mindfulness.
